Welcoming speech at the Andaman Sustainable Tourism Forum seminar to set goals for designing strategies for Phuket to become a sustainable tourism city by 2026.
Mr. Thalerngsak Petsuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Chaired the opening of the Andaman Sustainable Tourism Forum seminar with Dr. Weerasak Kowsurat, Senator, Mrs. Namfon Bunyawat, Deputy Governor of Policy and Planning, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teeranee Ajalakul, Director of the Big Data Institute (Public Organization), Mr. Thanet Tantipiriyakit President of the Phuket Tourism Business Association , Mr. Phumkit Raktaengam, President of the Sustainable Tourism Development Foundation, Mr. Pracha Asawatheera, Director of the Southern Region Digital Economy Promotion Agency, Mrs. Jaruwan Suwannasat, Director of MICE Intelligence and Innovation Department TCEB, Mr. Pittaya Pramote Woraphan Deputy Director General of the Pollution Control Department, Mr. Thada Warunchotikul, Manager of the Low Carbon Business Certification Office Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization), heads of government agencies, private sector, and tourism operators participated.
Mr. Amnuay Pinsuwan, Deputy Governor of Phuket Province, said, “At this time, the world is interested in environmental management. and inculcate awareness in the development of sustainable tourism (Sustainable Tourism) and responsible tourism (Responsible Tourism) in Phuket Province Has begun to design a strategy for Phuket to become a sustainable tourism city by 2026 from the Sustainable Tourism Development Foundation. The Food (Before) Waste project has started. It is a good opportunity to spark something concrete and tangible.”
On this occasion, the relevant agencies also signed a framework for cooperation to develop Sustainable Tourism Data Intelligence. Within the event, there was a discussion on “ESG sustainability dimensions and Thai tourism development” and “Awakening for sustainable tourism”. Sustainability of Thailand” there was a lecture on “Carbon Footprint in Tourism” in Thailand and a description of the current situation of plastic waste in Thai seas. and the afternoon session is in English on the topic “Tone from the Top” Showcases & Suggestion to Policy Makers, Sharing Idea Session “what we talk, when we talk about Sustainable Tourism”, Discussion Panel Session “Turning Thailand to Sustainable MICE Destination” and Workshop on assessing Carbon Footprint of Organization. The activity received good attention from 400 participants.
